On January 5, 2009, East Restaurant &
Lounge of Wells, Maine was presented two highly prestigious awards.
In an annual competition conducted by Chinese Restaurant News (CRN) of
San Francisco, East Restaurant took TOP TEN honors in two categories.
In the overall excellence for a Chinese Restaurant category, after an evaluation
of over 46,000 Chinese Restaurants, East
Restaurant was selected to the Top Ten for Overall Excellence.
In the special category of "Decor and Atmosphere" East Restaurant took
top honors as the
#1
Chinese Restaurant in the United States in that category with its stunning
decor and atmosphere. In a ceremony held in Las Vegas, Nevada,
the mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar B. Goodman, presented East Restaurant's proud
owner, Ri Teng Li, with the awards at a gala event. East Restaurant
becomes the first Chinese Restaurant in Maine to be selected to the highly
coveted, TOP 100 Chinese Restaurants For Excellence. These awards generally
are given to the top Chinese restaurants in New York and California.
On
January 19, 2009, East Restaurant held an event at their restaurant to
celebrate these truly remarkable accomplishments with the local community.
Several notable speakers from state and local government, the Wells Rotary
Club president, the Wells Chamber of Commerce president and others gave
praise to East Restaurant for these achievements, both for receiving these
awards and for East Restaurant's generous contributions and donations to
the local community. In his gracious and humble manner, owner Ri
Teng Li, thanked his wife and co-owner, Wei Yi Wang, all the employees,
those involved in the construction and design of East Restaurant, and Restaurant
Manager, Johnny Zhoa who all helped to make these achievements possible.
Restaurant owners, Ri Teng Li and his wife,
Wei Yi Wang are generous contributors to the community assisting the Wells
High School, other schools in Wells, the Wells-Ogunquit Center at Moody
and other organizations.
